Placing second behind Joshua Redman in the 1991 Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition, tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander is a founding member of the Art Blakey-inspired sextet, One For All, recording over a dozen albums with the all-star band while maintaining his own recording career. He joins forces with prolific pianist/composer Eric Reed, a superlative bandleader, solo performer, producer, educator, and sideman with artists such as Joe Henderson, Betty Carter, Freddie Hubbard, Buster Williams, and Wynton Marsalis – with whom he recorded more than a dozen albums. Reed has become one of the foremost interpreters of Thelonious Monk’s music, devoting four releases to his timeless classics. Alexander is currently working on a new recording project, due mid-2019.
