“Botti’s work functions both on the level of flickering intimacy and thundering grandiosity.” – The New York Times

Grammy Award–winning trumpeter/composer Chris Botti is one of the most successful instrumentalists of the 21st century. A virtuoso performer and composer, Botti has spent more than three decades redefining contemporary jazz by blending it seamlessly with pop, classical, and cinematic influences. Since launching his solo career in the mid-1990s, Botti has built a global following with his melodic sensibility and crossover appeal. His breakthrough album When I Fall in Love (2004) and the platinum-certified Italia (2007) propelled him to international stardom, while Impressions (2012) earned the Grammy Award for “Best Pop Instrumental Album.” His most recent release, Vol. 1 (2023), continues his exploration of orchestral textures and contemporary jazz phrasing. Selling more than four million albums, he has found a form of creative expression that begins in jazz and expands beyond the limits of any single genre. Botti has collaborated and toured with an elite roster of artists including Sting, Barbra Streisand, Yo-Yo Ma, Michael Bublé, Joni Mitchell, Frank Sinatra, and Andrea Bocelli, underscoring his versatility across genres. Signed to Blue Note Records, he has released over a dozen solo albums and appeared on countless recordings as a featured collaborator. A frequent visitor to major concert halls worldwide, Botti has not appeared in Victoria since TD JazzFest 2023, making this Victoria Jazz Society presentation a highly anticipated return. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a modern jazz icon live this September!
