As a Director of the Victoria Jazz Society, you are an ambassador for live music in Greater Victoria, sharing your passion for the joy of live performances. The Board of Directors is an important part of the Victoria Jazz Society team, promoting Society shows, membership, and the mission of the Society in the community, coordinated by Executive/Artistic Director Darryl Mar, and his staff of employees and volunteers.  It is integral to the vitality of Vancouver Island and beyond.

What's Involved with Being a Director?

The Board of Directors convene at meetings , held four to five times per year, usually on a Wednesday at 5pm for 90 minutes max. That’s when upcoming concerts and festivals are discussed, and other matters financial and organizational. Directors do not run live music events, though they can be involved with volunteer shifts at the gates, welcoming attendees and encouraging new membership applications.
