LowDown Brass Band

Twin Bill with Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio

Friday, June 27 | Bullen Park, Lyall St. | 7pm

With a blistering array of horns, funktacious drums and a powerful sousaphone, the Chicago-based brass set has also perfected a gritty and dynamic sound through the genres of hip-hop, soul, ska and rock.” – The Fox and King

Embodying the vibrant Chicago music culture, LowDown Brass Band is a one-of-a-kind horn ensemble weaving the rhythm of the streets with conscious hip hop, reggae, and soul. Describing their sound as “free brass,” this talented ensemble leans heavily on dancehall and street beat rhythm, with the energy of conscious hip-hop, funk, jazz, reggae, and soul. Following an ambitious project titled LowDown Sounds, LowDown Brass Band toured their seven-member band with Anthony Evora (AKA MC Billa Camp) to support their 2022 release, LowDown Nights. The band last played at TD JazzFest in 2023, and have proven to be a high energy, dance-orientated performance that wows audiences. Their 2024 album $itizens of the World further pushes the boundaries of their genre. Don’t miss the opportunity to see them live on the main outdoor stage at Bullen Park for TD JazzFest 2025! Shane Jonas trumpet/vocals, Sam Johnson trumpet, Andrew Zelm trombone, Matt Davis trombone, Lance Loiselle sousaphone, John Barbush drums
