Cuban-born pianist and composer and now Victorian Pablo Cardenas leads one of Canada’s most exhilarating Latin jazz ensembles. Cardenas blends Afro-Cuban rhythms with modern jazz harmony and big-band firepower. With more than 20 years of performance experience, he has collaborated with leading Latin and jazz artists across North America. His West Coast Cuban Orchestra brings together top-tier Canadian musicians in a high-energy format inspired by the golden age of Cuban dance bands while incorporating contemporary improvisation. This project was created in 2011 by Cardenas to keep Cuban music roots alive, while adding the influence of modern musical tendencies. Don’t miss this electrifying cross-cultural experience.
