“Combining their influences, which range from jazz to rap to rock to punk and R&B, SNACKTIME are one of the most original ensembles out there right now.” — Paste Magazine
Philadelphia’s beloved seven-piece soul/funk/alternative band SNACKTIME began in 2020, performing free concerts in the state’s Rittenhouse Square to huge crowds. Since then, they have emerged as a force to be reckoned with, selling out headlining shows and supporting tours for artists such as Portugal. The Man, Fitz & The Tantrums, Nathaniel Rateliff, and more. This is funky, feel-good brass at its best, exponentially touring and working on new music, with a stop at TD JazzFest’s Bullen Park along their trajectory to stardom.
“Guelph is home to one of the coolest neo-soul jazz bands (SHEBAD) to come out of Canada.” — CBC
Ontario’s neosoul collective SHEBAD is the creative spirit of visual artist/vocalist Claire Voy and multi-instrumentalist Ciccio Spagnolo. Influenced by Stevie Wonder, Hiatus Kaiyote, Amy Winehouse, and Daft Punk, their music explores indie soul, jazz-influenced melodies, danceable basslines, and transcendent vocals. The band released their debut album Music is the Answer (2024) to extremely positive feedback, as well as praise from CBC’s Tom Power, Laila Biali, Rohit Joseph and more.
“Montreal high soul pioneers, GEMINICRAB, are redefining the genre.” — DORK
Montreal-based high soul music duo GeminiCrab consists of Félix Award winner/keyboardist/producer Caulder Nash (Jonathan Roy) and 3-time Grammy-nominated vocalist/producer Malika Tirolien (Bokanté, vocalist on Snarky Puppy’s Grammy-winning album Family Dinner). This new duo has steadily gained momentum with their captivating sound, combining R&B, soul, hip hop, and jazz, after experimenting with binaural recording technology. Their new album, Gen Y Lens (2024), embodies the sonic influences and social realities of millennials.
