Warren Wolf f. The Sullivan Fortner Trio
Saturday, September 13 | McPherson Playhouse | 1:30pm
*SPECIAL MATINEE PERFORMANCE*

“[Warren Wolf and his band] combine star power and individuality, and thus have all the attributes of a supergroup.” – Audiophile Audition
Mack Avenue recording artist, vibraphonist, and multi-instrumentalist Warren Wolf is the premiere jazz vibraphonist on the scene today. He has trained on the vibraphone/marimba, drums, and piano since he was three years old, and hasn’t stopped since. A graduate turned instructor in the percussion department at Berklee College of Music, Wolf quickly became an active and sought-after performer around the Boston area. Wolf remains the drummer of choice for alto saxophonist Tia Fuller, as well as a member of the Bobby Watson’s Live and Learn Sextet, Christian McBride & Inside Straight, and the SFJAZZ Collective. His first two records are titled Incredible Jazz Vibes and Black Wolf, and he has also self-produced a CD titled RAW. He has released four Mack Avenue Records, and his latest record, Life, was released this year to mass acclaim. Wolf has performed with The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Jeremy Pelt and Creation, Stefon Harris, Curtis Lundy, Ron Carter, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding and many others.
Joining Wolf is the stellar Sullivan Fortner Trio, featuring Fortner on piano, Tyrone Allen on bass, and Kayvon Gordon on drums. Fortner—one of the most celebrated pianists of his generation—is known for his expressive playing and profound musical depth, heard in collaborations with Cecile McLorin Salvant, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and others. Together, this ensemble promises an unforgettable evening of modern jazz interplay, stylistic exploration, and pure musical joy. Don’t miss this special land-based matinee concert at McPherson Playhouse. This all-star ensemble is part of the “Journey of Jazz“ Signature Jazz Cruise, which will be docked in Victoria that Saturday, September 13!
