Thursday, May 2 | 2024 | Hermann's Jazz Club | 7pm

“The most prominent feature of Emilie-Claire Barlow’s music is its pure happiness. She uses charm, soul and charisma… evoking an afternoon of warm sunshine and no phone calls or emails to return.”   – All About Jazz

Critically-acclaimed and illustrious vocalist/producer Emilie-Claire Barlow returns from a five-year hiatus with her new avian-inspired album, Spark Bird. The two-time Juno Award winner and seven-time nominee has sold over 150,000 albums worldwide via her own label, Empress Music Group, and amassed over 300 million online streams.

Over her 25-year performing career, Barlow has led some of Canada’s finest musicians and performed in venues ranging from Toronto’s storied Montreal Bistro, Tokyo’s Cotton Club, Toronto’s Massey Hall, and recently made her acclaimed debut at New York’s fabled Birdland. She has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival on seven occasions, including a 2015 performance on the Main Stage with 50,000 people attending.  She returns to Victoria after a sold-out show in 2020.

Emilie-Claire Barlow’s concert will feature favorites from her extensive repertoire as well as new arrangements from her 13th album Spark Bird. Emilie-Claire leads her stellar band through innovative arrangements of American Songbook treasures, rhythmic bossa novas, and elegant ballads. She continues to endear herself to critics, peers, and audiences everywhere with her relaxed, polished demeanor, her charming humor, and a voice of unforgettable beauty.
